Right TomTom 500
Speed Cams installed and sorted
Voices installed and sorted
BUT.... (you knew there would be one)
IF I dont plan a route cos I know where i'm going, the Speed Cam warning dont happen. I get the picture on the road so I know where they are, but dont get an audile warning.
Works fine with a planned route. Am I missing something here?
You see I go places that I know the route too, BUT take tt500 with becuase I use it as the Hands free phone (way better than any headset I've had) 8)
If this has been asked before I can find it, so sorry and thanks in advance

That, Sir, is a 'feature'!
If you have "Warn only when on Route" ticked, Tomtom DOESN'T warn when there is no route set.
If you don't have it ticked, Tomtom WILL ALSO warn about cameras that are not on your route but nearby on adjacent roads etc.
Everyone agrees that's daft. Sorting it out is certainly on my wishlist for the next major software update, either with a clever system of looking at the road you're on, or simply defaulting back to "warn anyway" when no route is set.
May I suggest you fire off an email to TT support with that observation, and any other suggestions you come up with. It all helps (maybe!) |

Many thanks to you both for this.
E-mail sent telling them this is a dumb "feature"
Mind you the way the web site is behaving at the moment, might not get through
Had just noticed the check box mentioned and altered it (removed tick) and as you say Voila :D
Now can we set the warnings on time basis rather than distance only basis, if you see what I mean? |

That would be nice, but would need some quick calculations depending on what speed you were doing. Don't think its clever enough for that. Also, you might find you had to speed up in order toget to the camera in time! |

Hmmm ok, the PDA version I "think" can do this.
I mean it can do sums like this as it works out time to go to destination etc, but maybe there isnt enough processor power to do mulitple eta's or do them fast enough for going through "Safety Camera" zones
