Wiring the 510 to the car stereo

Hi, can anyone advise me please on how to connect my 510 to the car stereo? i have been told i need a fm modulator but i cant see anything about this on the Navman site.I have seen them for sale on ebay, wireless ones, is this what i need? Thanks Sandra

i a fm modulator is what your looking for however I must point out that these are illegal to use with in the uk something to do with the radio frequences and bradcasting

Thankyou for your quick reply, i just think the the sound that comes from the navman isnt loud enough and i didnt want to use it with the radio, just when i have a cd playing, surely that cant be illegal?

the way it works is you plug one end in to the icn and then tune the radio to a frequency its this bit that falls foul of the brodcasting laws as i understand it
using one of these you wouldnt be able to listen to the stereo and have the icn through the stereo at the same time

what you really need it an amplified speeker that has is own power supply they used to be quite widly avalaible the truckstops cb specialists but are very hard to track down i think maplins might be able to get one or the guys there are usually very all thing electronic or local specialist retailer

Multi frequency wireless FM Modulators like the "Audia X" which I use in my car plugged into my MP3 Player are illegal, however a wired FM Modulator which uses a choice of two legal frequencies can be purchased from eBay or Maplins. I use a Maplins unit on my GoldWing. If you need any more info give me a shout.

Hi,
Bit late I know, but I`m new to gps. I have a 520 and as you say the sound isn`t too loud, I had a pair of tiny speakers from an old portable cd player, I stuck one each side of the dash with double sided tape, plugged them into the headphone socket and it`s at least three times louder.

I'm looking at doing the same with my TTN5. Basicly, if the device you choose transmits, then its illegal. If you plug it into an areial socket on your car stereo, then its completely legal.

Thats the device you need, as a added benefit, you can hide it out of the way behind the dash.
