I created an itinerary with about a dozen waypoints. How can I tell the total distance of the route? I can't figure a way to do that. I'd think it would be a piece of cake for the software.
"Advanced planning" is not an option, since it only allows one waypoint. |

You cant. It's crap for that kind of thing. Totally useless.
Which is a shame because it is an otherwise excellant piece of kit. |

I don't know if it's the same with TTN, but on the TTG I use View Route > Show Route Summary. _________________ Richard

If you update to 5.1 you can run an itinerary off line....see the workaround in the bug list in the stickies at the top of the TomTom forum. It works well with 5.1, but not with the original TT5

Masked-Marauder: I finally figured out how to do it, it can be done. Oldboy and Robin2 were naturally right, however neither pointed out the crucial piece of info I was missing. It actually was such an easy thing, that both probably took for given that I knew it already... It's in the manual, which I naturally checked only after figuring it out myself.
The trick was to change the points in my itenary from "destination" to "waypoint", except for the last point, which should be a destination. Or actually the easier way is to change the first one to "waypoint" when you're inserting the itinerary, that way all the following are automatically inserted as waypoints.
This way the calculated route includes all the waypoints, and you can also run a demo of the whole thing.
If you're physically not where you intend to start the itinerary, or don't have a GPS handy, you'll also need the workaround pointed out by Robin2. |

Don't be too hard on yourself! I've just been through exactly the same process as you. I tried using itinerary for the first time on Saturday (just got a new car and wanted to set up a circular tour to put it through its paces).
Couldn't work out why it was only planning to the next point, and the fact that replanning to the following point then involved quite a number of screen presses. Only found the answer when I got back and looked in the manual.
I think that the problem, from a user interface point of view, is that it's not obvious, in the itinerary screen, that you can click on items in the itinerary to bring up a menu. At the bottom of the screen you've got an options button, and I'd tried that, but not tried clicking on the items themselves. Once you know then it's easy!
I would have also thought it would also make more sense to add the first location as a 'waypoint' by default, rather than a 'destination'. But perhaps that's just me view of how I'm likely to use the itinerary feature.
