TT5 & Softkeyboard not working

This is for a friend who has a pda (not sure which one yet but it has phone capability & it's not an XDA, think it might me an i-mate??) but it has an integrated keyboard.
He recently installed TT5 but when trying to use the 'soft-keyboard' to enter postcodes or names it doesn't allow it, he has to use the integrated keyboard.

Is this something someone else has come across, if it's a hardware specific problem I'll find out what the make/model is but I thought I'd ask anyway.

I had the same problem with an Orange SPV2000 which has an integrated keyboard. I upgraded Tomtom to 5.1- problem solved.
