Poor signal

I have read all the "what I would like added to TomTom" messages but no one seems to mention satalite reception. I have just got the TomTom 500 but it keeps loosing the sigal. It,s not because I was in a built up area or there was trees over the road. This morning I was going over the River Thames on the Windsor Releave Road away from Slough when TomTom just grayed out, just as I came up to a large roundabout with many roads off. Is this normal for TomTom. I drive a Renault Laguna. It doesn,t have a heated front screen. Will an exteernal antenna help or will I just be throwing good money after bad.

i drive a laguna and had the same problem so got myself external antenna i now have at least 9 satalites everytime i use the ttg. So i would say get a antenna, got mine from http://www.blueunplugged.com/Products/TomTom_Go_300_500_700_External_Antenna.aspx
