Hi All,

My farther has purchased a icn510 which is the same model as mine. Now as my unit works fine with no problems his unit never seems to get a gps signal, it always says waiting for gps.

I have checked out the FAQ at the navman site & it says it can take upto 15mins for the gps signal to work, but he has left it on & still not got a signal when leaving it on for at least an hour Sad .

As we live miles apart in the uk i am unable to see what he might be doing wrong or if he is for that matter. I have asked him to send an email to navman support but he has not heard anything as of yet so i hope someone on here might have a few suggestions.

The unit was purcahsed new & sealed.
He has tried reseting the unit & also reseting the gps.
He has had the item for 3 days now but does not get a signal.
His car does not have a reflective screen.

Your help would be appreciated.

thanks

Mike Allen

Mike

Sounds like the unit is faulty to me. From reading this forum, it appears that a small percentage of units have this problem and need to be returned to the vendor. The only other things that I can suggest are: that he tries it in a different location a few miles away, just incase he lives in a black-spot. I'd be surprised if that is the problem but it's worth a try before sending it back. Also, try changing the screen over to the satellite signal screen as I have read that this can speed up a satellite lock. This will also allow him to see what the problem is i.e. if there is a signal from enough satellites, signal strength etc.

As you know from your own unit, they usually get a signal within seconds. I have only had to wait a few minutes on one or two occasions.

Hope that helps.

Mark
