In the usual quiet manner, Tomtom have slipped out the update to v5.12 for Palm. It *seems* to load the GPS position much quicker, but I haven't used it in earnest yet. Views on use always appreciated... |

It still doesn't fix the Hotsync error messages. I haven't tried any navigation yet so I can't comment on that. |

Hi - I'm a newbie poster, but long time lurker...thought I'd try to help out.
You can fix the hotsync errors by using filez or similar to change the file attributes of the affected files NOT to backup. I did it several weeks ago and have had no ill effects.

First, thanks for the tip about the file attributes - works a treat.
As for the update, I run the LifeDrive and, using version 5.000 have needed to reset the unit before starting TT, as otherwise it wouldn't "see" the GPS, nor look for it, even when running for 10 minutes or so. Similarly, if I had been surfing the web using Blazer over GPRS, a reset was required to use TT. Must have been something in the Bluetooth prefs...
That problem is gone in v5.12, and the programme seeks out a GPS device after 30 seconds of start, and each 30 seconds if the search is cancelled, just like v4.40 did. All in all it makes for a more stable programme, and takes away another of the reset headaches of the LD. |
