|
|
I recently upgraded my pda to Tom V5.0 from V4.40. Application & maps after installing via cd works but voice commands are not working. I tried soft/hard reseting my pda.
Did anybody had the same problem. I checked on TT site and there is no info. Also sent an email to TT support - awaiting response.
Thanks

Same problem for me. ..no voices at all. I get an error message saying I did not select a usable voice, yet all the voices are properly installed. If you get a fix, please post the solution. Thanks. |

Anyone find an answer to this problem with the Tungsten T3 and navigator 5 upgrade. The program works fine except no voices. |

What do you mean by "properly installed?" The only time I had probems was whe nno voices were aon the PPC as I had put them al lo nthe memory card in the voices folder. TT needs at least one voice to be in main memory. |

First, the problems we are having are not on a pocked PC, we are using the Palmone Tungsten T3. Nevertheless I tried your solution by attempting to install a voice with the memory card removed. The attempt failed. HotSync simple rejected the request.

I had the same problem on a PDA. I re-installed the voices from the install disc and got the voices back. Might be worth a try!!!! _________________ Steve I |

Sorry, missed the word "palm" in the subject and just went by what was in the text of your post. BTW, although I use a PPC for TT for economic reasons, I can't stand the bloated OS and still use a Palm (non TT capable) as my day-to-day PDA. |

I think I may have figered this out, as we say in the south. First delete the aplication from the palm. It's listed as contactsnavigator, so it's hard to find. After this, format the expansion card. It might be helpful to copy any map folder to your desktop if you have that ability. Then reinstall the product to the expansion card inspit of what the instructions say. This seems to install the product in main memory anyway but it wont run without the card in place. Now copy your maps back to the card or install maps if you need to do it that way. Pop the card in and the applicatio takes off and seems to work fine. Two voices are installed with the application. I haven't tried to install anymore. You will need to re-activate the product after you do this so have your code handy.
Someoneelse please give this a try and tell me if we've found the holy grail.
THanks,
Bill |

I fixed the problem as following.
I tried couple of times installing the application on internal memory (PDA) & SD card, didn't worked. It seemed the data had been corrupted after couple of installations attempts. I decided to remove all data from my pda and installed the TT 5.0 application as new user so that my existing user backup files doesn't get downloaded after sync.
Steps:
Formated the data on PDA/SD card, create a new user profile via palm desktop, installed the TT 5.0 application on SD card -new user profile, installed maps on SD card. Once done, the TT and voice commands worked fine.
After that from palm desktop application, I copied all data from old user profile to new user profile (except - notepad data).
Today I received following email today from Tom Tom support regarding this issue.
"
Please install Nav 5 to the SD card and not the internal memory. The insert says to install the application to the internal memory. That is an error and we are sorry for the confusion. This will resolve your voice issue. If you have any further questions, please contact us.
"
Hope this helps.
