Hi all

I need some major help with my PDA/GPS solution.

What I have...

Holux CR-100 (2nd one, replaced because I thought it was faulty)
IPAQ 4150
Tom Tom 3 & 5

I've ages to succesfully connect the GPS to the IPAQ 4150, but all I get is the dots showing it is trying to connect.

I know its not my car window as I've been using a Tom Tom Bluetooth up until now no problem at all. It always connects in under 8 seconds where I am everytime.

I've tried it on multiple occassions using the exact settings as discribed by globalpositioningsystems.co.uk (who I got the Holux from) and the settings as described in virtually all GPS forum sites.

I find it hard to believe I have received two faulty CR-100's so I'm appealing to anyone and everyone here who may be able to help me out.

I've tried posting in the forums of globalpositioningsystems.co.uk but I've had no response.

The maximum I've ran it for is 40mins with no hint of a sat fix. I know some people have run them for 8 hours and still not had any joy so I didn't see the point in leaving it longer than 40mins.

If I must leave it for longer than 40mins, do I have to leave the PDA in with it? Or am I just supposed to leave it in powered so the cradle can get a fix?

Please, please someone help

ok you have selected in tomtom 3

tomtom navigator GPS
Serial cable com 1

You get the dots going from left to right but you dont get any bars, i am affraid it does sound like its faulty.

Can you confirm if its 3 or 5 you are using as you cant use both.

I have TT3 on only now Steven.

Like I say, I've driven around for 40 mins on the correct setting with both units now and all it does is the dots but never actually gets a fix on any satellites.

I really like the Holux over the Arkon, but if I have to, I suppose I'll just have to try the Arkon.

its strange we have sold alot of the CR100 and we have not had alot of returns on the units. A couple of my colleagues use them on a daily basis and i know that alix776 the moderator has one and thinks its great. I could be a bad batch that your supplier has, contact them and see what they say.

Thanks for your replies everyone.

I can confirm that the unit has power and that I don't have a keyboard plugged in.

The company I have bought it from (globalpositioningsystems) say it may be a fault on my IPAQ and that I should take a refund and decide on an alternative receiver.

I installed the GPS viewer that came on the Holux disc and it did show all that data scrolling from top to bottom, so I would have assumed that meant that the com port was working???

Hi All
There seems to be a lot of you guys having trouble with the CR100 not locking on to the sats, I was in the same boat until I logged into the TT web site, make sure you configure to the correct baud rate as to the makes spec. set this at 4800 and it works.
