There is a lot of negative feed-back on the new TomTom Navigator 5.
At first, I was unhappy about it when comparing it to Ver3.
After using for a while, I really like it. I particularly like:
The ability to rotate the display to landscape mode.
Full postal code lookup
Smooth scrolling map with virtually no lag
The way it tracks around corners and roundabouts
Side street names displayed

I like my TT5, but then I only used TT3 for a very short time before hand. The Post code look up is V.good.
I DONT liek the way it scrolls around Roundabouts......I think the SmartST software was much better for this, as it kept the Max-amount of the planned route on the screen the whole time, changing the "you are here" pointer orientaion if needed.
With TT5, if your ona big round about, it can spint he map aroundso you can only see one section of the roundabout, and cant even see the exit....until you are on it....
Thats about the only downside I'VE found... |

Landscape mode helps you to see the exit of large roundabouts.

I hate the routing algorithm in TT5.
You could trust TT3 to plan and route you using decent roads.
With TT5 I have learnt to review/avoid B roads first as it can take you down some really narrow country roads, even on the "fastest route" option. |
