|
|
Hello
I've had an Arkon vent mounted holder for my iPAQ for the last year, but today it sheared off completely leaving just the prongs in the vent! Must be the vibration in the car.
Anyway, it has put me off getting another Arkon, so can anyone recommend something? I'd like another vent mounted one as it is in the perfect position. I don't want a powered unit though, as I have a separate GPS receiver that often needs charging at the same time as my iPAQ (at the moment I can plug both into the one cigarette lighter). I don't want it to do anything flashy apart from hold the iPAQ!
Thanks. :D _________________ iPAQ h2210

Get a Brodit, forget the vent and use one of their ProClips to fix it to the dash without any drilling etc. They have one with an amplified speaker which works well.
They are by far the best mounts available, we've reviewed a few to give you an idea what they're like, I have a 2210 mount in my Disco, see here for a photo.
Goto www.brodit.com to choose your mount and ProClip then order in the UK from www.handnav.co.uk . _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for the advice Darren, they look a lot better than what I've been using. _________________ iPAQ h2210

I do, I use the PS/2 cable with a PS/2 - RJ11 converter to allow me to plug in a GPS Mouse or alternatively I use the Brodit PS/2 to TomTom charging cable to top up my BT units. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Is the hard wire cable with the Brodit Active mount fixed to the mount, or is it a plug connection?
I already have a hardwire cable (12/24V)set up in my car but would like to plug it into a better mount than the Seidio G2500 I currently use, as it is far too bulky and I don't need a speaker but would like to charge my TT Bluetooth GPS receiver from the mount using the charging cable that fits the Seidio.
Thanks in advance for any help |

Not sure which cable you are referring to? The main power cable to the mount is fixed, the accessory charge lead running from the PS/2 connector is not. _________________ Darren Griffin |

In that case, what would be the best active mount to connect to my existing hard wired power cable?
I don't need a speaker but would like to occasionally charge my TT bluetooth GPS receiver, and would like the slimmest solution to fix to my Brodit Proclip.
Is it a Brodit pass through mount? |

It is the usual 3mm jack connector, i.e. not an ipaq connector.
Thanks for the help, I just feel I need to get a good mount now that the 2210 is last year's model.
Would any of the new ipaq hx models have the same dimensions and connections? |
