Which is the correct GPS connection option for the Mitac 168 and TTN5?

I have been using "Tom Tom Cable GPS" because this is the only one that worked when I bought and loaded TT last week, and I've successfully completed several journies using this configuration.

I now find I can get an equally good connection using "Other cable NMEA GPS" on "Serial Cable on SP2".

Can anyone advise which is the correct/best GPS connection for the Mitac and TT5?

Thanks,
Geoff.

They both seem to work ok, Other Cable (NMEA) - Baud 4800 - Serial Cable on SP2 is the normal way as it's not a TT product, have tried both with no problems, so just leave alone if working ok.

Thanks - I seem to get the same number of satellites whichever I choose, so I will leave well alone!
Geoff.

Hi Geoff

When I said leave alone, I was only kidding, the one great thing about a Pocket PDA is that you can set it up working OK then do a FULL Backup and start playing with all the settings, once you have got it frozen, a quick hard reset and restore and all is back to normal in just a few mins, well hopefully.

Yes, I use Sprite backup reguarly and it certainly came into its own recently when the Mitac was sent away for the repair of a broken base connector. Obviously I did a hard reset before despatching it so as to remove all personal data.

I was back up and running within a few minutes with all my previously installed programs when the Mitac was returned with new motherboard & battery (courtesy of GlobalPositioningSystems). Incidentally, since I've the new mobo and battery the Mitac needs far fewer resets (side proddings) and the Sandisk WiFi card works better too.
