I wonder if anybody could answer a few questions I have (being new to GPS and not being a computer expert !):

1) I have an O2 XDA with Tomtom 4 - could you give me a step by step 'idiots' guide to putting POI's from the database onto my phone without installing the POIsync software (eg can I download the POI files and just copy/paste them to a particular folder on the storage card?)

2) Do the POI files work on whatever version of Tomtom you use (eg. will they work on Tomtom Mobile as well as Tomtom Pocket PC ?)

3) Where can you buy Tomtom US maps from ? (and are the maps platform dependent eg. will they work on both Tomtom Pocket PC and Tomtom Mobile on a smartphone?)

PS Brilliant Website !!! :D
Many thanks

(Assuming you are using Windows). Go to browse the files installed on your PDA using explorer (not Internet explorer!), and then find your memory card, inside there there will be a directory called Great Britiain Navigator map, or similar. Just copy the .ov2 and .bmp files into that directory, and then restart TomTom. Then enable the POI's.

Try www.tomtom.com The maps are not platform dependant however you can only activate them on one device.
