Hi,
Not sure if this is a dim question or not but bear with me. I'm planning on buying a hx4700+tomtom5 with a sirfIII CF GPS (when they come out), mainly for reducing the number of cables hanging around and portability.
Is there a benefit from running ttn5 in landscape mode? If so, the CF GPS will be 90 degrees off it's usual position. Is this significant? Will windscreen mounts cope with holding the PDA in landscape orientation?
Also, the 4700 has full VGA screen - what's the likelihood of this being a good thing (TM) for in-car sat nav?

Thanks

Jon

Entirely down to personal taste. I tried it and didn't like it, however others may have a different opinion.

Shouldn't be. Some of the 'view' will be shielded a little by your PDA but it shouldn't make any discernable difference.

Some will, like the TomTom mount, some won't, check carefully.

VGA is much higher resolution than the usual PDA screens so theoretically the graphics should be much clearer, however I can't comment as I've never used one Smile

I looked at the sidways view (once) and then changes back to portrait. Unless I missed something, my thoughts are that I would rather see more of what is ahead of me (like road layout or safety cameras) than seeing ajacent, irrelavant details.

Just my own preference.

Depends really, portrait is good because it does show you the road ahead. But if you are navigating in a city for example, seeing more what's on either side may be an advatage. Also depending on where you have your PDA mounted it might be an advatage to have it sideways as it obstructs your view of the road less.
