TT5, BT Rikaline X7 and a problem, how to get this to work?

I have been running TT3 for years and used a Rikaline X7 for the last 18 months or so. I have upgraded to TT5 and just cant get the things to work. I have been through the TT support and done all that is says but just to confirm:

1. installed 5.10
2. Under configure on GPS status I selct "Other Cable GPS" (have tried bluetooth GPS as well)
3. Baud 4800 (although I have tried them all)
4. Comm Port 8 (which is the correct one - or at least the port that worked with TT3)

Here is the strange thing, when I click done the BT and GPS lights come on on the GPS receiver, stay on for 5 secs and go off. 5 sec later they go on again and so on. Its there now blinking at me!!!!

If I exit out of TT5 and connect to the GPS through Bluetooth manager it connects and stays connected.

I have spent the best part of 5 hours on this so far and any other fixes you can recommend would be warmly welcomed.
