|
|
Can anyone please help me. I bought a TT300 unit for my father and am currently trying to install speed camera d/bases on it via software from pocketgps.com.
My pc is going nuts when I'm trying to do this, stops responding, won't let me copy files etc (tells me the parameter is incorrect) and I'm wondering if I could have a faulty SD card??? My pc even stops responding when I try to back up files from the SD card (I've tried using SD card and direct plug in to my machine). I have an original Tom Tom Go unit myself and had no problems installing similar info for this unit before.
Any ideas on how I can get this stuff on the unit would be much appreciated as I'm totally baffled....I can't even try some of the suggestions on the forum as I can't make any changes to files.
Cheers.

Hi Feefee,
to the forum!
Have you soft reset the TT Go 300?
Are you able to use it as a navigational device in your car?
If you are then your SD card should be OK.
Is the write protect switch set to read only, on the SD card?
Have you correctly plugged in all USB and power cables?
Try rebooting the PC and soft resetting the TomTom Go unit.
Have you read the guides to the PocketGPSWorld camera database and installing the camera database on the TomTom Go?

Hi
You dont say if you are using the card that came with the TTG300. If you have a look back through previous posts on this site you will see that there is not much spare space on the supplied card to add on more stuff. I would suggest that you consider buying another, larger capacity SD card. If Privateer's advice resets the unit, then keep the original in "pristine" condition (as a back up) and copy the original data over to the new one. Then you ought to be able to add the camera database, sounds etc with no problems. Do take time to read previous posts, it all sounds a bit daunting to begin with but believe me it should all work ok!!
Good luck

i'm not sure why this is but the causes may be that you are pluging your dads go300 into your pc, now your pc has the drivers already installed for the tomtom classic ( pc's recognize the tomtom as a card reader btw ) the firmware isnt much different on the 300 to the classic and so it could be a driver problem.
try putting your dads SD card in to your own tomtom and installing the cam database that way.
also i managed to get the complete cam database on to the original tomtom go SD card but i had nothing else on there in terms of POI's etc, i don't know why tomtom suply us with such a cheep-skate d!ck head 128 Mb card when it would probably cost them pence to supply a 256mb instead |

Hi Guys
I've checked all the USB ports and they're fine - all wired up correctly, power cables in etc. I haven't however checked the Write Protect switch on the SD card (didn't know it had one) so will do this tonight. If that doesn't work I'll try it in my own Tom Tom Classic. What a carry on....have spent most of this morning trying to get through to Tom Tom Support - would have more chance winning the lottery I think. Thanks for your help. |

Little thing that had me totally confused for a while... The write protect switch on my original card was so floppy that every time I pushed it into a card reader, it slid to "protect" and every time I pulled it out, it slid back to "enable". That REALLY had me going bonkers! A little bit of sellotape solved it |
