Garmin Legend C and Memory Maps

Was all set to buy a Legend C for use on the bike and walking. I already have a copy of Memory Maps with local maps so though that the new C model would be all I need to get going.

Now I am trying to understand the lack of NMEA and what exactly that means for me?

I thought a USB connection would be far better than the old serial connections and the extra battery life would be great but now wondering if I should not save myself the 100 quid and get the normal (old) Legen.

Any advice?
