Hi

I'm trying to use a geotiff aerial photograph as a moving map on my imate Jam. I can convert the image and it shows on the PPC, but as soon as I connect the GPS, the background image disappears (goes white). I suspect that the coordinates are wrong.

I've downloaded the latest versions of Ozi for PC and handheld, and performed the following steps:

ON PC:
Import Map | Single DRG map. The tif in question has corresponding .tab and .tfw files in the same folder as the .tif.
I then converted the map using Img2Ozf, and copied it across.

On HANDHELD:
I can open the new map and see the background image, but as soon as I activate the GPS, the backround goes white. I do get the correct GPS reading in the top left corner (something like "-33.936905 18.466302").

I suspect that the coordinate system is incorrect - if I look at the map without turning on the GPS, I get coords like "-3757537.0000 -47399.000000" if i tap on the map.

Any ideas?

UPDATE:

I managed to get it almost right. I missed the projection options dialog box. Turns out I had to select Transverse Mercator, and change a couple of other settings for the zone (South Africa)

Now my E-W position is accurate, but N-S is about 50" out. Will play with it a bit more - must be a setting somewhere.

You could try asking in the Ozi Users newsgroup on Yahoo. This sort of question tends to get more response on there. (Apologies if you already have - I've not been there for a while myself).
