I think i read somewhere in a post on this forum (although i can't find it again using the search) that when using the handsfree with the standard microhpne on the mount, the sound is not full duplex (i.e it's only one way or half duplex)

I've been using the handsfree for a day or so with a sony ericsson T630 (after I gave up getting my new k750i to work :x ) and basically when someone is talking on the other end of the line, you can't be heard until there is a gap in conversation i.e. when someone is talking the microphone is off. i.e. the handsfree is indeed half duplex!

When I read the post (which I can't find) it said that this was the case because the microphone would feed back the speaker sounds and cause problems to the person on the otherend of the phone. (I may not have this bit completely correct but it was along those lines).

What I do know is that it's really annoying!!!

Having a conversation is difficult especially when you need to butt-in from time to time.

It is just me or are other users experiencing the same?

would the external microphone help?

External microphone will help.
When the sound quality from the internal mic becomes too low, your voice will be canceled out, otherwise it gets very distorted.
An ecxternal mic will improve the sound quality, so it will also minimize the occasions were your voice is canceled out.

Thanks for that - i'll give the external mic a go. I've got one somewhere - I take it it's just a standard 3.5mm jack and it's not necessary to buy the tomtom version?
