|
|
I have just performed a hard reset to my H2210 and have tried to perform a restore from my CF card onto which I have two back-ups using the lastest edition of Sprite Premium. I have gone to the CF card and tapped on the latest back-up (today) and get the error message
"The selected file is corrupt. Please select a different file"
I get the exact same message when I tap on the other back-up file (from a week earlier).
Anyone any ideas?
Cheers

Incidentally, and I don't know if this is relevant to my problem, I notice that there are two files on my CF card that I haven't clue about.
One is FILE0000 204k and the other is FILE0001 2.29MB the only other things on the card is the Great_Britain folder with all the TomTom-3 maps etc and the two Sprite back-up files as mentioned in my original post.
Cheers

Forgot to mention that both those files are suffixed with .CHK

My Sprite backup files are named "Backup_<<date>>.pbf. could you be looking in the wrong directory? _________________ Steve I |

Sorry but maybe I have not expressed myself clearly.
The two sprite back-up files I refer to in my first post are indeed called
Backup_2005.
These two files are giving the error message.
I was merely querying if the two other files I mentioned in my next two posts are linked to this problem?

The CHK files sound like recovered file fragments created with some sort of disk checking utility such as chkdsk.exe in MS Windows. These are produced when a disk/volume is corrupted and the utility is run. This could point to a faulty or corrupted disk.
As memory cards can appear as drives, your file structure may have become corrupted. It may be that you memory card needs re-formatting or has errors. |

Thanks for that MrT.
Well I have deleted those two .CHK from the CF card and have loaded SpritePremium from my PC back onto the H2210. It has now restored the backup but "with warnings". I am currently running StorageTools Scan (Fix Errors) utility - I will then run Defrag - maybe this will help.
I have just checked to see if everything including TTN3 are working ok and they are but very slowly I notice. Maybe the StorageTools routines will help. Failing that I will copy the TTN3/PostCode files from the CF card to my PC and format the CF card and start again.
Thanks for your help.

Out of interest..did you save the backups as self restoring .EXE files??

Yes, they were self-restoring back-up files. The only way I could get one to restore was by re-installing Sprite to the PDA from my PC and then it would restore from the card but "with warnings". I have since deleted those two unknown files from the CF card, but noticed that when I ran TTN it was very slow to move from screen to screen. I tried a defrag on the CF card but made no difference so I copied the TTN files from the CF to my PC then re-formatted the CF and copied the files back. Big difference indeed! There was obviously some corruption on the CF that must have come from my PC (which is old and full of crap!).
