Hi all,

Complete newbie to the world of GPS and Tomtom so begentle with me! Embarassed Just bought myself a HP2410 with new Tom Nav 5 and was thinking of upgrading to the traffic updates. Can anyone tell me what sort of cost per call you would be charged using pay and go phones?

How often does it request an update from the server?

Sorry if this is already covered in the forums somewhere.

Cheers all.

You want to have a good look at the Tomtom Traffic forum its bound to be covered in there. Traffic uses data downloads via GPRS and I believe the actual amount of data is quite small so GPRS charges shouldn't be too high(depending on your GPRS tarrif). I dont use it at the mo but I imagine Tomtom is set to automatically check for updates at regular intervals.

Like I say though check the other forum you're bound to get better info.

you can set the intervals at whetever you like - I have it set to 15 minutes but sometime extend this to a hour and turn it off when driving late at night (when traffic should be light) and the gprs data tranfer is very small.

On orange payg £10 lasts a couple of months (I use the payg phone for trafffic only) and I drive 2500 miles minimum a month.

as said before check the other forum for more info.
