Hi

From what i understand the updated firmware and gps firmware makes the mio and lot quicker and the gps more accurate, can someone please help me in checking to see if mine has the updates already or point me in the right direction, i have been to a few other sites and they all point me to one link which appears to be down or email the proggies many thanxs for any help

Only the very first units had that problem, what date of manufacture does your Mio168 have on the back, below serial no.

the manufacture date is 06-2004, just that some people say they have updated there firmware the gps driver and said it has improoved the performance and they can even get a gps signal indoors

I have a Mio168 that was manufactured in 02 2005, if I look on the Mio Utility it shows the ROM Version as 168WWER22.

If you are satisfied with the performance at the moment then unless you can be sure that any update you do is from Mitac then I would not do it, once done there is no going back without the original from Mitac which I would not think would be available to anyone.

Before doing it I would contact Mitac to see what they say, if there is an official update then they will direct you to it.
