I was using tomtom3 earlier, and now I have moved to Tomtom 5.If I need to get an Idea of the distance to a certain place before actually starting the journey, with tomtom 3 I used to give the address and click home as the point of departure to calculate the distance(when GPS is not on).But in tomtom 5 it is not giving such an option at all.It just says "No GPS device".Am I missing some options or is Tomtom 5 programmed like that.
That was really a useful option in tomtom 3.
Also when going to alternate route,It is not showing options like avoid M1,or avoid a specific road. |

If you select advance planning you can enter the departure point.
To avoid a part of the route: select alternative then avoid part of the route, you can then select from all citys and roads that your journey passes through. (a major advance from TT3 when you could only select the next 3 road names) |

No, it's not an advance - with TT5 you can only have one waypoint in Advanced Planning. If you put in another, it over-writes the first.
And as crazydolu says, you can't use itinerary planning unless you are connected to a GPS and positioned at the beginning of the journey
It's listed under the collection of bugs compiled by Lutz

crazydolu wasn't talking about itineray planning, only A to B planning, which I have working fine without a GPS fix.
The advance I was talking avout was the ability to avoid any roads on route and not just the next 3. |

The features mentioned , ie ability to use home as departure point in TT3, and message about no GPS device, both relate to Itinerary planning in TT3 and TT5 respectively. I therefore think crazydolu was deploring, as I do, the inability to plan itineraries when not connected to a GPS receiver.
When I need this feature, I revert to TT3

I have tried this a few times over the several weeks and for periods of time it does not work, then for a while it did work.
I think that there could be a bug that is stoping it working all the time, or for most of the time.
Has anyone else had it working sometimes.
