Hi,

I've got myself a luuuurverly new TT GPS MKII unit, very pleased so far however I only got a car charger with my unit so I'd like to get a mains charger too. Will any 5v BT charger do? Cany anyone recommend a cheap one?

The other thing I'm after is something to keep the gps unit still on the dashboard, I don't know exactly how far apart it can be from the phone so was thinking I shouldn't put it in the glove box. What would be a good idea to mount it? Is something as simple as some adhesive velcro acceptable? I did hear something about magnetic plates, they won't interfere with the GPS I assume?

Cheers

i put the bt reciever by the gear lever i have found that it works well down there
i dont think it would work in the glove box
although it probably would work in your pocket Laughing

in the sun 8) directley on the dashboard it gets very hot and i am not sure if thats to good for the unit

if you do mount it then make sure that its removable not wise to leave in car on display

Works fine in my glove box. Even better than by the gear lever.

My wired GPS manages fine although I agree excess heat for long periods probably isn't good for the battery. May I suggest some velcro? You can get adhesive velcro strips you cut to size, stick one part on the dash and the other on the back of the GPS.

Very true.

thanks chaps, I'm gonna give it a try in the glove box tonight and then failing that down by the gearstick. Velcro appears cheap enough on ebay so if it rattles around I'll try that. Although when I'm carrying the gps in my shirt pocket the velcro might chafe a little :o

Still yet to find anywhere selling a cheap mains charger though. Will keep searching.

Sun,

You could use an AC/DC adapter in place of a mains charger, so that you can use your car charger in your home >> http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/p1577

The TomTom receiver uses the same charger an ipaq so look for chargers for those.

i bought a magnetic disk from halfords and is next to my gear stick. I have full strength gps. I do have a glass sunroof so this may allow me to place it there.
