BT GPS - Help wanted!

I am a complete novice at gps and bluetooth, but have some computing knowledge.

I have purchased a bluetooth gps receiver (manufacturer on box stated as exGPS). To connect with laptop I am using a bluetooth doggle and running IVT Corporation BlueSoleil. The bluetooth is working as this has been tested with a bluetooth enabled phone.

The software recognises the gps receiver and lists it as BT GPS, it is stated as being paired, but no connection can be established. I have checked the COM port on the software (COM6 is listed for this device).

Having run autoroute and also PrymeNav software, neither can find the receiver (not suprising as no bluetooth connection).

Has anyone any ideas, or should I assign this receiver to the bin as one of life's learning opportunities and buy a reputable one?!
