Anyone else having problems with mobile 5 crashing and restarting your phone? It seems to happen at least once on every journey I go on, I can't remember it ever happening with version 4.
It sucks when it happens in an area you're not familiar with and you have pull over and wait for it to restart and reconnect etc and then you end up being late. _________________ Nokia 6600 running TT Mobile 5.0 |

i have the same setup as you, and i have had no problems, it could however be dependent on how much memory you have free in the phone,
i do try to keep the phone memory as empty as possible.
i have 5339k free in the phone. |

not saying this will cure your problem, but move some things over to the memory card (if you have the space)
also set save for images/video to your memory card.
hoppe it helps |

I try to put as much as possible on my memory card like extra software, pictures, videos etc. I think it's mostly just system files I that I probably can't move. I've moved a few files across and there's now 4045k free.
Does it matter if you have other applications running at the same time as tomtom? I have a little program called Always Light that runs in the background and stops the backlight turning itself off. I could try closing that down next time see if that helps. _________________ Nokia 6600 running TT Mobile 5.0 |

Yes it matters. The only time TomTom has crashed for me was when I was doing something else on the phone. As others have said you don't need the backlight application when running TomTom. |

i have ttm5 on 7710, 70mb internal and 700mb on mmc free.
Had the phone 1 day and phone crashed and restarted twice.
Not sure if other apps were running or not, but free space can't be the problem. |

may be a different cause on your phone but tomtom is very memory hungry, and the 6600 has only got 6mb tro start with. |

Best way to tell how much free memory space you have on your phone is to download this free app from
http://users.skynet.be/domi/fexplorer.htm
This then tells you how much you have , i usually have about 7484k on my 7610 and tomtom runs fine, open up a few apps and tomtom wont run at all. |

anything lower than software version 409.1 on the 6600 is widely known as having heaps of problems when running additional apps.
as carmex says while you phone is in normal mode ( not doing anything ) press *#0000#
if it shows anything lower than 409.1 then that will be your fault
you`d then either need to take the handset to a nokia service centre which will normally upgrade the phone software for free, or i can upgrade the software for you for £10 ( pm or email for more details ) _________________ iPhone 3Gs 32GB

Software version is 3.42.1
I don't think it's actually tomtom that's crashing now, as my phone seemed to have crashed and restarted when I haven't even been use it. _________________ Nokia 6600 running TT Mobile 5.0 |

Yep, that's the disadvantage of getting something as soon as it's available.
Doesn't getting it upgraded wipe all software? _________________ Nokia 6600 running TT Mobile 5.0 |
