The TomTom website states that navigator 5 doesn't support the Dell X5 ppc. If this is the case, am I restricted to using Navigator 3 with its older maps? Is it possible to up-date the older Navigator 3 maps to the level of Navigator 5 maps?
Just for eveyones information, here is the reply from TomTom.
Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately the Dell X5 is not sufficiently powerfull to run Navigator 5. You will need to purchase another PDA to utilise Navigator 5 and the new map information. The map information is not compatible with Navigator 3.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team.
Just one point, the X5 isn't powerfull enough but the X3 is .

Ok here is my experience with TT5 on a Dell Axim X5. The mapping, navigation, favorites, POIs and all works well and smoothly as it should. The only thing that I found unsatisfactory was the Audio instructions., BUT it was usable (just).
The sound appeared as if the processor was fetching just part of the audio, playing it, then fetching more etc - this gave about half a seconds pause...
What shoud sound like "You have arrived at your destination." could come out as: "You have arri ved at your desti nation".
I hasten to add that i upgraded the X5 OS to PC2003....I don't know if that was a help or hinderance in this case...
All that said, I bought an Dell Axim X50 and TT5 is sweet! _________________ Axim X50 & TT5, Arkon CM820 powered mount with built in sirf2 gps
