I'm looking for a product that doesn't seem to exist -- but I can't be the only one who wants it, so maybe I just can't find it.

I've been using an etrex for four years for running and hiking. It's falling apart, and has never had great reception.

I also want to start using GPS for driving directions.

I have a PPC (Eten M500). Unfortunately, the M500 has a damn-fool proprietary data connector, so (for now anyway) a cable-based solution isn't feasible.

What I want is something like an etrex (but ideally with better reception) that I can continue to use for running and hiking, but with bluetooth so I can use it for driving with the Eten PPC.

The only thing that seems to be like this is the Fortuna GPSmart, but it's really too crude to do the job on the running/hiking side.

I know about the etrex BT adaptor -- it's a possible solution but I'd rather have an integrated one.

A no-screen BT GPS is a non-solution: it's not really feasible to run with a PPC.

Does anyone have a guess about whether Fortuna or Garmin or someone else is likely to introduce a product like this in the near future? Or, of course, if there already is one I don't know about.

Thanks!

THe Navman range of sports GPS receivers may be worth a check - they are standalone however, and do not connect to a Pocket PC.
