I am trying to convert a axe file to ov2 using poi converter.

The file I am converting has 6300 poi's and is 1.84 meg in size.
When I open this file it tells me it has read 6019 points.

When I load this into tomtom and display, alot of the pois are missing.

I am presuming that it is only able to read 6019 and 281 are missing.

Is this because my original file is too large? or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

try to save as ASCII and then use MakeOV2.exe - the number of POIs is not limited by TomTom.

The reason it wouldn’t convert all of the files is because there is a post code issue with the axe file. Ill makes do with it how it is.

I am having problems getting poi converter to use the icon I have chosen.
I have created a bmp and a pic/PICT file, when I replace the pic file with the new 1, and try to start POI converter it tells me to replace the pic.pic.

Even when I did finally get it to see the new pic file, I would open axe and save as ov2, but I would still end up with poi's default crappy icon.

Has anyone else had this problem?

The POI limit used to be 10,000 but in POIConverter 3.11 it is now 40,000. Rename your bitmap file to default_symbol.bmp and place it in the folder that contains the program. The folder is C:\Richard_Davies if you used the default installation.

Thanks.

I have done that with the BMP file but I still end up with the original bmp in my new folder with my ov2 file. The instructions say that the bmp and pic files have to be changed.

You are quite correct - it does not work. I used to use my own code to create an OV2 file but now I run the TomTom utility MakeOV2. When making this change I overlooked the fact that MakeOV2 will create a symbol (BMP) file, so my code associated with the use of default_symbol.bmp is now wrong.

I will correct the fault and release a new version when I have the chance.

Richard

Ahh,

Well atleast I know now that I wasnt doing anything wrong with the BMP and PIC files, I was trying for ages.

Thanks for your reply.

Will you post in here when you have corrected the fault?
