I have a Dell Axim X5 And I find the volume when using TT5 very low. It is set to full in TT5 menu and in the X5 settings. Is this a fault with TT or with the PDA and if so is there any fix available. Thanks in anticipation.

I use this one really sticks to the windsceen, if you have a car radio with a cassette player u can buy an adaptor from ebay looks like a cassette with a wire & plug coming from it costs about £5 snag is u cant listen to the radio at the same time

Do you get enough volume with the PDA out of the car mount?

I have a Dell Axim 3 and although the volume is not that good I found that it was halved when I placed it in the car cradle.

On examination I found that around 90 percent of the PDAs speaker grill was covered by the mount. A needle file and 5 minutes work doubled the sound output :D

Im having this problem. I use a seidio amplified mount and an IPAQ22xx PDA. Tomtom3 was wicked no probs. But now?

The volume is too quite, turning the volume up creates distortion. No matter what combination I seem to try, the volume is too quiet or too distorted.

Does anyone have this combination of equipment and would like to share there set up for nice volume?

I use the Holux CR100 combined GPS receiver and amplified mount. The receiver works very well, and the sound output from the built in speaker is loud and very clear when used with my iPAQ 2210

I upgraded from tom tom 3 to 5 on my 2210.

On tom tom 3 the volume was fine, tom tom 5 the volume was very low until the other day.

Driving along as normal with tom tom 5 whispering the instructions then all of a sudden the volume increased to how it used to be with tom tom 3

Very weird and thankfully it's stayed loud. I haven't done anything, no programs added or deleted.

May happen to you as well if your lucky :D

Just to say in the volume has a setting to link to driving speed.

Need to check your setting for volume in TT5 settings and remove Volume Speed option.

I hope this helps!

Hi,

I found an interesting box (FastMute) which make it possible to connect ANY PDA to your car speakers(stereo).
No special radio required.
The box has a Mute-Generator (VOX) implemented.
In the moment (5ms later) the internal car speakers are switched off and the PDA sound comes amplified (9W Sin) to your car speakers.
There is only one 2 wire connection, from the ear phone jack to that box.
2 sec after the PDA sound has finished the speaker will be switched back (fall back) to your radio.
If you have a DIN loudspeaker connector just remove connectors from your radio and plug this box in between, connect to earphone output and power it, thats all.

Add On implemented for PDA MP3 users.
Autodetect for music. If the box is detecting music the fall back time will now be changed from 2s to now 15s. So no low volume music will cause any jitter in switching.

You can find this box here
http://www.fastmute.de/
The only problem is, that all informations are in German.
If there is some interest, I can translate the main items

I have the same problem with my Axim X5. The spoken instructions are barely audible even with the radio switched off. I have found that if you start TT5 then insert it into the cradle (the Tomtom one for the Axim) it seems to work.
