I have just upgraded to tom tom 5 on my Ipaq 3870. I find it impossible to get a fix it just says no valid gps signal. On the gps status page all the dot go up in a line from centre to north were my mates are all doted about the compass. Is the emtac jacket not compatible with tom tom 5 or is this a problem with my ipaq

Thanks for your time.

give the jacket ample of time- it looks like TTN5 is attempting to cold reboot the GPS device upon connection. THe jacket needs to recover from that.

Make sure to set the receiver to "other cable GPS" , 4800 and the correct COM port (I guess COM4)

it should have a fix after 15-20 minutes of unobstructed sky view.

I still use the Emtac GPSJAQ sometimes, but I also bought a RoyalTek RBT3000 bluetooth receiver because I wanted reliability.

I've found it to be ultra reliable (never had a problem with it), long battery life (8 hours or more) and hangs onto a lock like a rottweiler with a burglar - even under trees etc. I often have a 10 sat lock and sometimes see 12.

I had thought the Emtac wasn't working when I tried it with TTN5 but patience won and it eventually locked on and worked.
