Copying Maps?

I've recently got myself a GO 300, with GB map v562 on the SD card that came with it.

My question is:

When in a few months or however long it is, TomTom start including a new more up-to-date GB map with the GO's that they are selling, what's to stop people who have it simply copying it from their SD card, and posting it on the net for people with older versions to download and use, without paying for it?

I presume the 'product code' card that comes with the GO is something to do with stopping this?

There seems to be no mention of people doing this, so I was just wondering how TomTom stop it happening, especially as data on SD cards is so 'copyable'.

yes, the maps are locked, and you need your device ID and a product code to generate an activation code to unlock them.
