i hav had a brief look around this site for ways to make my own POI pack from the pc, But so far i hav only found ways of doing it with the GPS code, I hav a long list of wether spoons pubs addys in a leaflet i got. I would like to put them into POI format without going all over GB.
Thanks in advance for any help. |

Hi JME,
If you have the postcode you can use a website such as Streetmap to convert this data into longitude and latitude coordinates which you can then transfer into a .ov2 file using a POI converter program such as WinOV2.
See my Sticky guide to creating your own POI in the POI-Sync forum if you are still unsure.

Is there any faster way of converting lots (I mean thousands) of postcodes into Lat/Long co-ords than using streetmap or something similar?
I'm thinking some kind of web script using xml etc
I'm contemplating updating my Wireless Hotspot POI but I used a postcode database previously and I don't think that is available any more...
It's a long old job if I have to input every postcode into streetmap!

You could download the Wetherspoons file from here and then convert it to whatever format you need using Oldie's POIConverter. _________________ Tim |

I think one of us is not understanding here
Not sure how that would allow me to convert lots of Wireless Hotspot postcodes into Lat/Long.... |

Nope, I was replying to the first post, which mentioned Wetherspoons. Sorry. But, if you have Autoroute 2005 (also works with some earlier versions but I'm not sure which!) then you can import your list of postcodes into Autoroute and convert the saved .axe file, too. _________________ Tim |
