I'm hoping someone can give me some advice, I have just carried out a new install onto a larger sd card, activated my maps and all works well, except when i need to carryout a hard reset on my t3 it asked me to activate my maps again, it asks this after every hard reset, it doesn't do this if i use my original sd card supplied by tomtom.

So what's going wrong any help please.

You seem to be doing a lot of hard resets.

Are you sure you're doing the hard reset which erases all data?

If so then you will loose the map activation.

If all you are doing is a soft reset - sticking the stylus in the reset hole, then I had the same problem with my Treo 650.

Unfortunately for you, my Treo 650 problems went away when I installed the latest firmware/software patch from PalmOne.

Tom Tom are aware of the problem of maps needing reactivation when a soft reset occurs, but send them an email via their support page on www.tomtom.com just to let them know it is not just the Treo 650 that it effects.

i got a reply from tom tom support, regarding reactivating my maps after a hard reset, seems silly but they said thats what i would need to do. cant understand why i'm not asked to reactivate my maps when i'm using my sd card supplied by tom tom, you know the original supplied from tom tom, this problem only happens on the new 512mb sd card that i have transferred my maps to, does anyone have any advice.

The Tom Tom supplied card must have something different on it which retains the map activation.

When you do it yourself on a different card the map activation details are kept on the internal memory of the palm under the name of the map - i.e great_britain_plus-????????.mac & great_britain_plus-map.cfg (probably the the .cfg file. (nav 5)

So when you hard reset the palm, it wipes out all old data.

My Tom Tom SD card was not activated - I had to get the code from ttcode.com & input it before I could use it.
So I have no experience of a palm pre-activated card.

cheers, mike 4 your reply, i guess i need to find which files are not copied over between the two cards, and then manually copy these files over to the new card. i'll have a look, i tought that might be the case, but it does seem rather stupid of tom tom to know about this problem and not allow me to use all of the maps i've paid for, on my t3.

I know nothing about Palm but on a ppc I think it's the .axs file you may need.
