Hello

I want to create overview maps for my garmin quest of things like atms zoos, etc etc, I have been playing around on a few sites and have downloaded all of the software available to try and create these maps.

It seems to be quite complicated, I did however convert the Tom Tom OV2 files to way point files and got them loaded in to GPS Utility, however I don't see that I need to load an image map? isn't the maps of GB already on the quest or am I missing something? I want to create the IMG files so I can use the maps by uploading them to the quest.

I downloaded and used the fantastic speed camera database that was mentioned on here, that works a treat, I can of course load waypoints in straight from the converted Tom Tom poi files but that takes up huge chunks of memory in the quest, I like the idea of just switching the maps on and off.

I would be grateful if someone could write a brief description as to how I can make a basic overview map from way point files to upload to the Quest, I am almost there but not quite, If I can get and do this I will convert all the Tom Tom poi to maps, this may take some time of course but we need to support the Garmin as well as the ever popular Tom Tom.

Kind Regards

Paul Knox

'Wired' seems to have mastered the overlay system for the speed cameras:-

Does this help?

Hi

Thanks for that, yes i used the camera map it is very useful, i still cant see a more simple explanation as to how i create the overview maps though? perhapps wired might be able to help here, I am very keen to make a bunch of maps from all the available Tom Tom points, it would be a nice addition to the unit, I could then share them on my site, i must admit he did a nice job with the installer as well, very cool indeed.

Thanks

Knoxie
