I have been doing a little testing with TTN5, iPAQ 3870 and Navman 3400 GPS sleeve. Although the Navman serial driver 3.1.6 approach doesn't seem to want to work properly (Works outside the car but fails miserably when mounted anywhere inside), I thnk I have made some progress.

I need other people to verify my results and involves an install of Navman SmartST Pro to your device. No, it wont be used we just need to utilize the driver included with the installation which appears to be different than the 3.1.6 version.

Ok, so remove the Navman Serial Driver 3.1.6 from your device and Soft reset without the Navman jacket. Recradle the device and install SmartST Pro that came with your Jacket, but don't install any maps. Now you can try without activating the Navman software but I activated my copy out of routine! Remove the device and place in Jacket. You shouldn't get anything about not finding drivers for expansion card. Start TTN5 and set up your Jacket again. You should still have a 'Navman Driver' after the comms speed setting. If not run through the SmartST installation again.

Now on my 3870 I seemed to get a lot more GPS 'activity' and the rotating black and yellow symbol indicating communications to the Jacket seemed to rotate slightly faster (just under once per second). I got a fix sat in the car which wouldn't happen at all using the serial driver.

I have yet to fully test this but it looks sort of promising.

Comments please

Regards

Hi just tried your experiment "got my hopes up", unfortunately no luck so far... the ball spins and it see satellites OK, but no hard fix.

Interestingly enough my girlfriend has a NAVMAN jacket (ST) and that works with the 3.1.6 driver, it gets a quickish lock (but not as quick at TT3) and holds the fix fine...

Teach me to give her the better jacket... Keep trying though (as I will)
