sound wav files

Hello

I have just downloaded the lastest speed camera files and noticed there is a file with some wav sound files in there.

How do i get these onto my navman and work with said POIs

ie....gatso POIs with the warning gatso wav

Currently the iCN510 can only use one sound file for all warnings, not one different sound file for each.

Thanks for the reply. Shame, it would have been great to get an audio warning when approaching a speed camera.

You mentioned there is only one warning played by the navman 510. I wondered if it's possible to edit that and replace it with something suitable for approaching a speed camera?

So it would be useful to know:

1 - What is the name of the warning file the NAVMAN plays?
2 - When is the warning played?
3 - Are there settings to contol what 'generates' a warning message in the 510?

I'm hoping I could change the warning WAV file to be relevant to speed cameras, then change the settings for warnings to they're only played when approaching a speed camera POI entry??

Be interested to hear your opinions on this?

Have a read of this.

The warning is played when you set it up. You can set different distance warnings for each Custom POI category. P. 29 of the manual explains how this is done.

But you can only have one sound for ALL alerts.

Can you confirm wherabouts on the iCN 510 the default wav is please. I have read the other thread you suggested but it in sunclear from that exactly what file to replace.

the POI alert sound is called default.wav
Via ActiveSync, locate the default.wav file. It should be in the following directory:
/storage card/Navman/MyPOI/
Either back up the original default file to another location or rename it. Then cut and paste the downloaded file into the Sound directory. Dont forget to rename the file default or it won't work!
You now have a voice alert for the safety cameras!

NOTE to iCN510 users.

Although the default file can be replaced, there are reports that after it has given a gatso warning the voice for normal directions stops working requiring the unit to be reset in order for the voice to work again.

Try this mate, dont know if it works, just found it somewhere.

I don't have any wav files in that location, that is why I re-asked the question.

I tried changing the name of one of the .WAV files that comes with the Speed Camera download to default.wav, then using explore in Microsoft ActiveSync copied the file to:

\Storage Card\Navman\MyPOI

I found that it worked fine until I got to a camera, when it correctly gave me the warning. However the voice instruction then stopped working! It was fuzzy, sounded like white noise?

Fortunatley all you need to do to reset the 510 is delete the file with ActiveSync - all returns to normal.

After seing some posts saying you need the file to be in 11 Htz 8 bit mono I rechecked the file and it was in 16 bit stereo - Could this be the reason it didn't work! :D

So I used Windows Sound Recorder and changed the format to 11 Htz 8 bit mono and went through the same process of adding it to the 510 in the MyPOI folder using ActiveSync.

When I tested again I found that it correctly altered me to the up coming speed camera. However ALL the voice alerts, for turning left/right, reaching destination etc were replaced by the speed camera warning!?

Again this was corrected by deleting the default.wav file from the MyPOI directory......

Has anyone out there got it working correctly?

If so, would you be willing to share the "default.wav" file you're using so I can see if it also works for me?

Sorry guys I am a bit lost here.

I followed the instructions for uploading the speed camera files that are on this site. You only copy the csv and a bmp for each of the 5 types of cameras, where does the wav file come into it?

Althought it seems it's not officially supported, some users have been able to get an audio alert when approaching a speed camera (other that just a 'beep'). Done by including a suitable wav file in the MyPOI folder, with the file name default.wav.

This thread is about getting that to work - I followed details posted by some other 510 users and couldn't quite get it going.....

I was just wondering if anyone out there has got this working with no effect of the normal use??

In the Speed camera Download there are a number of wav files but there are no instructions on what to do with them, where should they go if anywhere.

Just to clear up the original question. Can you replace the default.wav? If so where does it reside? Does it have any side effects?
