I am trying to get the following combination to work. According to the Global Sat website the N30 is one of the pda's they have tested to make sure it is compatible.
According to their website I should use the 4 bit drivers, so I am. When I use the GPS Info app that comes packaged with the SD501, it picks it up in com port 9, but when I "start GPS" nothing happens. The pda does not hang, and I can "stop gps" and go do something else. I have also tried getting Mapopolis to read info from the GPS, with similar failure.
The GPS seems to work, the red light comes on solid, and then once it aquires, starts to flash as per the manual.
Please help if you can. I have read through the available information on here, but none seems relevant to my case.
I have hard reset my pda, and updated it to the latest OS and drivers, I have only installed the 4bit drivers and GPS Info. The Acer N30 is SDIO Now! compliant according to the specs, but no seperate or update drivers are available.
Passed it onto a mate with a Dell Axim and it worked fine. Seems that despite GlobalSats claims this item is NOT compatible with the Acer N30, despite it being an SDIO Now! enabled pda, and on their list of pda's tested to work with the SD501!
