Hey, did anyone ever have any luck with serial gps to tungsten E usb connection? I am deep in the heart of trying to do the same thing, and yet everyone keeps saying it can't be done, but you can buy it here or there, but you can't do it yourself, etc. It can be done, and I refuse to buy a ridiculously overpriced kit, when I already have everything I need, except the pinouts, and minor info, you know? Doesn't anyone hack cabling anymore? Are we all just slaves to what the Palm Gods tell us we can do with our Tungstens? Or maybe no one takes pride in making their toys do what the weren't intended to do, like we used to. I just can't be the only one that still takes apart toasters to see how to make them work better, not burn my bagels, etc. Someone out there has to have taken thier cable apart, or used their multi-meter to check the pinouts on one of those fancy cables, no? It can't be a hard thing to make, if they can sell the cable AND A GPS FOR $50!
Any help or input would be appreciated, I'm having a breakdown here !

You are quite right.
But you still have to buy one of these cables in order to hack it.
For the ones who already have it, why borther?
Yes you can get a GPS/cable for less, but not for Tungsten E.
I would suggest you change your PDA in order to have access to cheaper/better GPS. This is my usualy advice. _________________ Pc-Mobile

Yeah, sure, thats the idea, just upgrade to another unit, even if what you have is perfectly usable.
I'm not picking on the idea so much as the fact that everyone blindly follows that idea now.
I have spare mini-usb cables, and spare serial cables, plent of connectors, a nice soldering station, and an inquisitive mind. I shouldn't have to buy the next new toy that comes along, my Tungsten E works just fine, my GlobalSat mouse-gps works just fine, and I know that it can be done. I was just asking if anyone ever got that far before quitting, and giving up.
So you can go and buy the setup you want, and I hope it makes you happy; I'd rather make mine work, and get some satisfaction in the process.
Just my two cents.

I'm very glad that you are concerned with my time, and the wasting thereof.
Must be a culture thing, or we grew up different, but if I succeed in doing something that I set out to do, I don't see it as a waste of time.
But thanks anyway.
