I have spent about 24 hours on this and now admit defeat. I have an HP 2210 and a Sharp GX15. They are paired but I am clearly not bright enough to find the correct settings to make them talk to enable Traffic. Could anyone put me in the right direction on a step by step basis?

Okay...I appreciate that the above request is a bit painful Laughing Perhaps I could put the problem a different way......I have a paired h2210 and a SharpGX15 phone. I have set the PDA with all relevant vodafone settings (as done in the vodafone shop today) but the two will not connect. I get an "unknown reason" which is most helpful. We tried two ther phones (to eliminate the phone) and the same thing happened. I guess it has to to do with the PDA.
Settings are thus:

Bluetooth Settings
number *99***1# (also tried *99#)
name: Vodafone GPRS
modem: Bluetooth dialup modem
username:web
Password: web (no domain)
Baud rate 115200
wait for dialling tone..unchecked
extra dial-string modem commands: +cgdcont=3,"ip","Internet"
Data bits 8
Parity None
Stop bits 2
Flow control Hardware
Using server assigned ip address.

Vodafone can't help further and I am having difficulty with HP....Anyone??

Hi just seen your post. I was in the same situation for ages.

Try this link, it sorted me. http://www.markwilson.co.uk/blog//archive/2004_11_01_archive.htm

just one thing i did do after reading some other posts was to change the 'Internet' string to 'internet', lower case.

some of the other settings are also different to yours.

Hope it help.

Jon, Thanks for the reply and link......I have seen his instructions before and they are very clear. Unfortunately they did not work in this case and neither did the other suggested settings searched around this forum. I will try a little "i" in internet though.

looking at the web the gx15 does have a bt modem.

one thing you could try is to replace the items in the extra string command with either nothing or just a Z .

Adding a single Z certainly helps various sony phones connect via bt & gprs.

if tha'ts right then sharp follow the old panasonic model features - the japanese are supposed to be "sharp" - talkabout not understanding the market.

when i was talking to vodafone customer services
they talked to the phone testers
they said that they could not get a sharp to connect
i contacted the link phone shop
the manager at the link confirmed this
they changed my phone
for a sony ericsson t 630
at no extra cost
i can now connect
but get web page unavailable
i just have to sort out this problem
then i can connect to traffic

Well, someone finally came clean at Vodafone. the GX15 cannot be used as a Bluetooth modem with Navigator Rolling Eyes

I am getting a Sony Ericsson K700 as a replacement FOC. No doubt I will be back here asking for directions Question

BTW This Tomtom link shows all the phones that are compatible with Tomtom Go Bluetooth functions....so presumably they should work with PPC BT also....Fingers crossed 8O

you'll have no problems with the k700 - best sony fone to date - 'cept maybe the k750.

excellent signal strength and very good as a bt modem .
