I have upgraded to TTN5 on my Palm T3.

Everything seems to have installed correctly with the exception of the voices. I have no voices installed, not even 'Jane' and have 9.2Mb free space on my SD Card.

Does anyone know how to manually install voices on a T3? If I use the installer, everthing seems to be fine but I can't access any voices at all.

Thanks

Where did you install your application? Voices only work from the SD card, not from RAM. Since app and voices need to be in the same location, make sure you installed both to SD.

You have to install voices one by one as required from the main installation disc. Once the programs's installed then you choose the voices within settings/voices.

Copy DATA05.CHK and DATA05.VIF into your /tomtom directory and you'll have Jane. (Works on Palm anyway).

I've the same problem with adding new voices downloaded from TT.com. By putting the two files in the /TT folder, do you mean that I should create a folder named "TomTom" or put it in the same folder that TT Maps are in (which is in a folder currently named something else)?

I already had a folder on my SD card called TOMTOM (so D:/TOMTOM). My map is in a folder called Great Britain Map (or something close, I don't have my Palm beside me right now).

I thought on the Palm you always got a "map name" folder and a TOMTOM folder. Confused

If you don't have D:/TOMTOM you could try creating it and dropping in the DATA05.CHK and DATA05.VIF files. I can't see it doing any harm.

I'll give it a whirl when I get home. But you're right, there is a TT Map folder named by the region/area it covers, e.g. Great Britain, or in my case West USA.

Nope, no dice. Tried putting the files in three locations, none of them worked:

1) ~/West-Map/ (this is where the other files on the card are)
2) ~/TOMTOM (I created this folder thinking TT would recognize it as the default voice folder)
3) ~/TomTom (Same as #2, different caps)

I have an HP rz1710 and I can find my data05.chk and data05.vif files
on the ppc MyDocuments/TomTom

Maybe you could try them there

Voices should not be in the TOMTOM folder but in the VOICES folder.

You can install the voice files on the SD card.

To do that the voice files need to be in a "voices" folder in the root of the SD card.

However, this also requires a "tomtom" folder in the root of the SD card else the voices will not be found.

If you prefer "Voices" and "TomTom" with capitalisation it makes no difference.

I can not get it worling on my Palm T3. I formated sd card several times, hotsync several different voices, no luck. i sent tomtom support email yesterday regarding this and waiting for the reply.

Has anyone figured out exactly what the problem is? Did anyone get support from TT tech dept?

Please explain in detail what to do?

Shouldn't be experiencing the prolems you relate.

As fas as I remember, you load up the voices at the same time as you install the TomTom program onton your Sd card. One thing I should emphasise is that TomTom HAS to be installed on any new SD card you use - it is resident on the CARD and NOT the Palm itself!
