Hi,
I want to add a location I'm going to to a POI category that came with my TTG300.
Basically, I've got a postcode/street of Farnham Hospital, and when I try 'add POI', all that comes up are the extra POi's that I have added from the internet (racing circuits, national trust etc)

Does this sound right, or should you be able to add to the 'pre packed' POI's?
Otherwise, I suppose it'll have to be stored as a favourite/new poi category.

Thanks,
Matt
BTW I have 59 POI (original and downloaded) categorys that list when pressing 'navigate to' then 'poi' if that helps. Rolling Eyes

You cannot add POIs to the preinstalled categories

(Well, at least not legally)

are you sure that's the right term ? I mean we've been messing with the POI warnings so why not the POI's ?

The POIs are owned by TeleAtlas, and it is not permitted to change them (even if they are totally out of whack) or add into that collection . You can only COMPLETELY replace them with your own collection.

There are three places you can store a POI.

1. As a Favourite.

2. To a category that you have already created or installed.

3. In a new catergory that you can create for the purpose.

Favourite are not particularly like by a lot of users as it is difficult to manipulate the data in the way that you can with a .ov2 file.

Be aware that there is a limit of 40 POI's that you can add to the built-in POI's.

Do you mean change the whole collection - or change individual categories?

If you zap all the supplied POIs, does that enable you to have more than 40 user-defined categories?

yes. Haven't tested the limit yet but the POI.DAT can hold at least 65 categories.

There's one problem. The icons are embedded in the Exe or the data.chk and would need to be replaced too.
