I have recently upgraded to Navigator 5 (in fact I uninstalled 3 and installed 5) and it does seem to work pretty well.
The new maps are a bit of a problem however. I purchased a 1gb storage card and find that at best this will only hold GB, France and Spain. I shall need at least another 1gb to install the others and the size of the files means that they take for ever to install but as there's a lot more detail I shouldn't complain.
However I do have two problems.
First the initial screen keeps reverting to grey. I corrected it once by reverting to factory settings. This caused the xdaII to crash but on a soft reset the colour had returned. However after installing the France maps the problem reoccurred and factory resets no longer cause a crash but neither do they restore the colour. Any ideas please?
Secondly and perhaps more importantly I cannot find a location from a uk postcode. It simply takes you to the choice of roads like Navigator 3 used to. Dave Burrows review says that I should be able to use a full postcode so I would like to get this to work.
I have installed the GB Plus map and also tried to install the GB Postcode map but this seem to transfer to the storage card as a zip file and I wonder if this is the problems.
Again any suggestions most welcome.
Many thanks

The screen is grey as long as you don't have a GPS fix
Create a \TomTom folder on your PPC and this will then allow you to do 7 digit postcode search _________________ Lutz

try putting the Great_Britain.Postal file in the folder called ZIP on your SD card, that's where I put it and it works now _________________ SW

I got it working by making a folder called Tomtom on the card containing the UK map. |

You will need to create a folder on your storage card called 'tomtom'. |

Wow
I renamed the zip to tomtom that didn't work
so I named it back to ZIP.
Then just created a new folder call tomtom on the SD card with nothing in it and Wow wow wow it works :D
Brilliant, shame they have a flaky installation routine!
Many many thanks |

Many thanks for your help everyone.
I now understand the grey screen and have succeeded in making the postcodes work.
