Found on Dutch and German forums (translation mine, idea and execution not)
http://www.pocketpc-club.nl/forum/showthread.php?t=53822&page=1&pp=15
and
http://www.pocketnavigation.de/board/thread.php?threadid=69041&threadview=0&hilight=&hilightuser=0&page=1

It is possible to design your own menu in TTN5. That way you can adjust the menu to suit your preferences so that you can f.i. shut down TT from within the first menu screen.

You have to follow this procedure:
Make a textfile using notepad.exe including the rearranged menuitems and save it as TomTom.mnu in the directory TomTom/SDKRegistry

The menuitems can be found in a textfile.

Links to the textfiles:
http://www.pocketnavigation.de/board/attachment.php?attachmentid=16723
and
http://www.pocketnavigation.de/board/attachment.php?attachmentid=16724

example:

I was all excited by this, but as a Palm user, it seems that the "SDKRegistry" directory does not exist.

We get the 'SdkFileCalls' directory, but not the other.

So, it looks like on the Palm, menus are done differently Sad

No problem, just make a new folder under TomTom. Call it SDKRegistry and copy your TomTom.mnu file in there.

I did it exactly like that!

Nope.. Doesn't seem to work on the Palm.

I have created the "SDKRegistry" directory under "TomTom".. I then copy/pasted the contents of the 2nd file (in the link above) into a file called "TomTom.mnu" in the SDKRegistry directory and then launched TomTom.

But the menus are still the same...

I might have been more specific. The file is an example, in order to make a working menu out of it you have to delete the first two lines.

It starts off so:

Die Datei kann mit einem Editor blah blah etc

MENUBLOCK BLOCK_MAIN BTM_GPS_POSITION
MENUPAGE TASK_PAGE1 Custom menu 1
MENUITEM TASK_EXIT_APP Anwendung schließen

Delete the line that starts with "Die Datei " and the empty line following it.

It should work now!

I might have been more specific. The file is an example, try using the first link. Don't worry, you can do anything wrong.

Is it possible to delete this answer? The cond post following jweavers question is the correct answer. I must have been suffering acute caffeine depletion symptoms.

Nope.. Still no good!

Even if I copy/past your file into my TomTom.mnu file, my menus don't change.

I really don't think that this is going to work on the Palm Sad

Its a shame.. I only want to move that wretched 'TomTom Traffic' button off of the front screen and replace it with something more useful!

newmikey,

I have read your last posts again and understand what you are saying.. I had already reaslised this when I did my first test.

I already removed the 'text' at the top of the page, and simply pasted in the MENU parts which began with:

"MENUBLOCK BLOCK_MAIN BTM_GPS_POSITION"

I know you did, or I expected such. The file I am looking at in your last post (pun unintended) is just the example file. Discard it, copy the example in my last post (again...) into an empty file and name it TomTom.mnu. It MUST work! It worked for others on Palm, so why not for you? Did you ever treat your Palm unfair?

Don't want to poke your eyes out, but have a look at my menus:

The rest of them, 7 in total are on my pbase gallery at http://www.pbase.com/newmikey/crops

Should there already be a tomtom.mnu file anywhere? Like a default one or something? Or are we creating the sdk folder and then the menu file from scratch as it were?

I would prefer to have the default one, and then cut and paste a few commands as needed Smile
