First off all lets start off by saying what a brilliant and helpfull site this is. Hopefully my latest problem which has driven me to writing this post will also be solved like the many others before me.

I had a hp ipaq 1940 with tomtom nav3 and fortuna 1.2 gps reciever all was working fine until i dropped it and it replaced with a hp ipaq hx2400 series. i have reinstalled tomtom navigator 3 paired the bluetooth device under NMEA 0183v2 38400 Bluetooth Serial Port COM5. At this point the bluetooth device is comunicating with ppc and has a satalite and power signal so all is fine. when i run tomtom nav3 it displays a message reading unreliable signal and the bluetooth stops communicating. ie the blue light stops flashing so tomtom does not recieve signal. I then have to repeat this process but with exactly the same result. My questions are as follows

1 i have simply kept the same sd card with the maps etc could this be causing the prob

2 this occurs both in xt and st mode could the problem lie with the serial port being NMEA 0183v2 38400

I use sat nav everyday for work so needless to say how appritiative i am for any sollutions and help. thanks for any interest kav

Pairing the devices is not necessary. What you need to do is to have the iPAQ subscribe to the serial port service of the receiver. Have you done that?

You also need to verify that COM8: indeed is the right port (outgoing serial port). Make sure you have a "friendly" TomTom GPS driver installed (eg 2.06)

Do you see the same problem with other GPS programs like WinFast?

thanks lutz for your reply,

im not exactly sure how to do this, What i have done is allocated the ipaq to incoming - bluetooth com5 and outgoing com8 which the ipaq has took as default. these settings are in nmea 38400. is this the correct setting for the fortuna clip-on v1.2

You also need to verify that COM8: indeed is the right port (outgoing serial port). Make sure you have a "friendly" TomTom GPS driver installed (eg 2.06)

how can i verify which com port is doing what, as for the driver i originally had tomtom navigator 3 driver. i have now installed gps 3.07 and prob still exists

any suggestions??
