Using same POI files in multiple maps

If you have a POI file that you want to use in multiple maps on the same storage card is there any way to do this apart from copying the files into each of the Map folders. I thought that creating short cuts would allow this but it doesn't seem to work. Anybody got any ideas ?

no, you really need to physically copy the file over. TomTom does not use operating system calls, and therefore doesn't know how to handle a shortcut.
