|

I've downloaded and installed the seperate zoned ov2 files in the past but this time I just want to install the redlight, gatso, specs, mobile, temp files without the zoned breakdown.
I see that in the download there are various ov2 files for each of these sections but my question is which one is the most up to date.
For example, when unzipped the download has various folders and underneath this some files, one of which is the gatso one and its size is 105kb, if i open the pocketgps speed cameras folder the file size is 95kb (gatso), in the top ov2 bmp folder the file (gatso) is 118kb and so on.
Which download is most accurate - I don't want to load the biggest one if it contains locations of cameras that aren't there or shows cameras 20 yds away from each other when theres only the one.
Thanks |

Well the one in the folder marked - ov2 bmp files - is 118KB
And the files in the folder - speed zoned - gatso - ov2 bmp files - is 118KB
the same, all the files are the same, they are just broken down into the speed zones, but the files in the speed zoned have to include the tba files as they have no speed against them.
If you took the separate Gatso file, opened it, then separate the entries with speed against them into the different files then it the same. |

All the camera files are at the same level.
the single Gatso file is the same as the speed zoned Gatso files, but combined into one file.
The same goes for the Mobile files.
The single file that has every camera in it is a combination of all the other files.
Therefore if you use the single file, ....uk_sc.ov2 , you will still have evry camera, some 6000 I believe, but you won't know what type it is. _________________ Richard

Thanks for the replies guys but my maths must be out - add up file size of speed zoned gatsos and its 115kb - why are the single file gatso's different sizes (which are the files i'd like to install for the various types of camera).
The closest file size to 115kb is in the top ov2 bmp folder which is 118kb. The next ov2 bmp folder the gatso file is 110kb.
I'm not trying to split hairs but would like to know which file is the most up to date for each camera type.
Unfortunately I replace the downloaded zip file with the new one whenever a new version is released so I can't compare the various folders with previous releases.
I think I'll installl the larger files and hopefully this way they'll have all the latest positions.
Thanks again |

Just checked the properties of each folder and the top ov2 bmp folder is the latest date and this contains the largest files so hopefully its the latest info.
Cheers |

Well I just opened the files,
Speed zoned Gatso
7
2038
736
290
165
81
392
= 3709
Single Gatso
= 3709
So if my maths are OK, then they are the SAME.

Jeez, Pete2! These are the guys who put the database together, and they already told you once that the various collections are all using the same camera database. I'd just trust them! :D
Don't forget that a file's size doesn't neccessarily bear much relationship to the data inside it. For example:
File #1:
Line 1) "This is all cameras"
Line 2) Camera a
Line 3) Camera b
Line 4) Camera c
Line 5) Camera d
Line 6) This file has 5 lines in it
File #2:
Line 1) "This is 30mph cameras"
Line 2) Camera a
Line 3) This file has 3 lines in it
File #3:
Line 1) "This is 40mph cameras"
Line 2) Camera b
Line 3) This file has 3 lines in it
Etc. upto File #5
Total size of File #1 = 6 lines
Total size of files #2 to #5 = 12 lines --- Ooh Err they're bigger! 8) |

I was working on the size of the files as indicated underneath each item when unzipped - pocketgps_uk_gatso_30, POI binary, 26Kb.
I added up the kb of each section and thats where i was getting confused.
I was not trying to critise the database or its authors. |
