I have a ipaq 2210 with a powered Silver Shield mount and a TTBT GPS reciever, I want to hardwire them into my car, I gather I need to reduce the 12v to 5v for the 2210 and GPS, can anyone tell me what additional kit I will need to reduce the voltage. I have the power cables with the connectors to canablise for joining into the car.

Any other problems I might come across Question

Not being familiar with the Silver Shield Mount, you need to check if it has an internal circuit board that reduces the 12v supply from the Cigar lighter plug to 5v like the Seidio and TomTom ones do, or if the voltage reduction is actually in the cigar lighter plug.

If it has the internal circuit board in the mount then you just need to cut off cigar plug and connect the wire into a live 12v supply via a 2 amp fuse. Making sure you observe the correct polarity. To get a 5v supply for your BT, if the mount has a 5v output socket you can use that., if not you will need to find some other way of powering it such as an additional cable connected to the cigar lighter socket with a plug that has a 12v -5v reduction built in to it.

If the voltage reduction is a small circuit board in the cigar lighter plug then you need to remove it from the plug and run a wire from a live 12v supply via a 2 amp fuse and connect it to the input side of the circuit board. Making sure you connect the + & - correctly. If you need a 5 volt supply for your BT you can splice in a second cable from the 5v output from the circuit board.
