As a complete beginner in this field I am looking to buy a tranferrable GPS which can also be used out-of-car. The 510 seems a good bet because of it's size/portability and I have contacted Navman but cannot get any sensible information about non-car usage (perhaps I have not asked the right questions!). This in itself is worrying after reading the negative comments about Navman service

Can somebody please tell me if the 510 can display the GPS fix (degrees mins etc) while moving on foot in the country and does the map 'scroll' as you progress to show your position when no destination has been entered.

Also Digiwoo.dk are offering the Premium version for about £420 + delivery. Apparently it has the scandinavian maps loaded on a 380Mb card but includes the UK and the rest of europe on CD. Has anyone any experience of this company?

I would be eternally grateful for any help.

Many thanks

The Navman isn't very good away from roads. I have tried taking a fix (waypoint, favourite whatever you want to call it) in car parks and every time it refers it to the nearest road. But I may be doing something wrong.

No Synth, you aren't doing anything wrong.

Like most other PNAs, the iCN510 has what is known as a 'snap to' feature. This causes it to 'snap to' the nearest road in most cases, although on the GPS status page your correct Lat/Long should still be shown, I would have thought.
