SD Cards and Speed with TOMTOM and IPAQ 2210

I currently have a 256MB SD Card and looking to upgrade to a 512MB perhaps,

but read a lot of places say with TOMTOM this is better to have smaller card or it takes too long?

Anyone know if this is right?

Also is there a best type of SD Card to use??

No, that's not right. The card size doesn't play a role. The card brand however is certainly important. Stay away from Sandisk China cards. I had excellent results with Lexar, especially the high speed versions (32x)
